Editorial Policy and Ratings Methodology

This page explains how Klip.ae produces its bank reviews, what our star ratings mean, and the rules we hold ourselves to. If you want to challenge anything we have published, this page tells you the basis on which we published it.

Our sources

We build every bank profile from primary sources. We do not rewrite other comparison sites. For each bank we work from:

  • The bank’s official website and product pages
  • The bank’s published schedule of fees and charges
  • The Central Bank of the UAE register of licensed financial institutions
  • Published credit rating announcements from Fitch, Moody’s or S&P, where the bank is rated
  • Annual reports and regulatory disclosures, where public

Where we state a specific figure, such as a minimum balance, a transfer charge or a credit rating, it comes from one of those sources. Banking terms change frequently, so we also tell readers to confirm current terms with the bank before acting.

What our star ratings mean

Each bank review carries a rating out of 5. The rating is our editorial assessment of how well that bank serves the customers it is actually aimed at. It is a judgment, not a calculated score, and it is not a measure of the bank’s safety or solvency.

We assess each bank across 6 areas:

  • Access and onboarding. How hard it is to qualify and open an account, and whether that can be done remotely.
  • Cost. Minimum balance requirements, monthly fees, fall-below charges, and local and international transfer costs.
  • Physical network. Branch and ATM coverage across the 7 emirates.
  • Digital banking. The quality and scope of the app and online banking, and what can be done without visiting a branch.
  • Product range. Breadth of accounts, cards, financing and business services relative to the bank’s target customer.
  • Standing and regulation. Licensing status, regulatory oversight and published credit ratings where they exist.

A bank is rated against what it sets out to do. A corporate-only digital bank is not marked down for having no consumer products, and a small foreign branch bank is not marked down for having no ATM network, provided we say clearly who the bank is and is not for. That is why every review includes a Best For and a Not Ideal For section, and those sections carry more practical weight than the number.

What a rating does not tell you: it is not a prediction, not a safety rating, and not advice that you should or should not bank somewhere. A bank rated 3 out of 5 by us may be exactly the right bank for you.

Independence

No bank pays for coverage on Klip.ae. No bank pays for a rating, a position in a list, or the removal of criticism. No bank sees an article before it is published or has any right of approval over it.

If an article ever contains a commercial or affiliate link, that will be disclosed in the article itself.

Accuracy, updates and corrections

Every article shows a published date and, where it has been revised, an updated date. Banking terms move, so we review our bank profiles against the banks’ current published information and revise them when something has changed.

If you find an error, email contact@klip.ae with the page and the detail you believe is wrong. We verify against the bank’s current published source and correct it. Where a correction changes the substance of a review, we note that the article has been updated.

We apply the same standard to correction requests from banks as from readers. We verify first, and we do not remove accurate criticism on request.

How our content is produced

Articles are researched, compiled and edited by the Klip Editorial Team. We use software tools, including AI-assisted drafting, as part of that process. Every published article is reviewed by a person against the primary sources listed above before it goes live, and the editorial team is responsible for what appears on this site.

Our limits

Klip.ae is not regulated by the Central Bank of the UAE or any other authority, and we do not provide financial advice. See our disclaimer for the full position.
