ADCB runs 47 branches in the UAE, including 8 uBank self-service centers and 2 Excellency Majlis centers, plus more than 560 ATMs and over 300 cash and cheque deposit machines. It offers three personal banking tiers (Aspire, Privilege and Excellency), a low-cost Universal Account, credit cards, personal loans, mortgages and digital banking.

Overall Rating
★★★★☆ 4.3/5
Why We Rated ADCB 4.3/5
ADCB scores well for its branch and ATM coverage, its three-tier account structure, and its 365 Cashback card. Its relationship-based fees mean freelancers and lower earners need to check the exact thresholds before they open an account.
Who Should Open an ADCB Account?
ADCB suits:
- Salaried residents earning AED 5,000 or more a month who want a full-service bank.
- Anyone who wants a government-backed bank with a large UAE-wide branch and ATM network.
- Households that spend regularly on dining, groceries, fuel and Salik and want cashback on that spend.
- Lower-income residents without an existing UAE bank account, who may qualify for the AED 2 a month Universal Account.
- Customers who want one bank for everyday banking, loans, mortgages, cards and wealth services as their income grows.
Who May Want to Consider Other Banks?
ADCB may not be the best fit if you:
- Are a freelancer or self-employed without a regular salary transfer or a large relationship balance.
- Want to avoid monthly fees without keeping a specific balance or salary transfer amount.
- Need the cashback card’s welcome bonus without meeting its AED 5,000 minimum spend in 45 days.
- Spend heavily on overseas cards and want to avoid foreign transaction charges, which apply as with most UAE banks.

Why Choose ADCB? Key Advantages and Drawbacks
Choosing a bank isn’t only about fees. Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank combines government backing, a wide branch and ATM network, and a rewarding cashback card, alongside a few limitations worth knowing before you apply.
Pros of Banking with ADCB
Government-Backed Financial Security
ADCB is majority owned by the Government of Abu Dhabi. Fitch rates it A+ with a stable outlook, and S&P rates it A with a positive outlook, giving customers a well-rated, established bank.
Rewarding TouchPoints Loyalty Programme
ADCB’s TouchPoints programme lets customers earn points through salary transfers and eligible card spending. Points can be redeemed for cashback, travel, shopping and other rewards.
A Genuinely Rewarding Cashback Card
The ADCB 365 Cashback Credit Card pays 6% on dining, 5% on fuel and Salik, and 3% on groceries, with no annual fee in the first year. See the full breakdown further down this page.
Extensive Branch and ATM Network
With 47 branches and more than 560 ATMs, including over 300 cash and cheque deposit machines, ADCB gives customers easy access across all seven emirates.
A Low-Cost Option for Lower Earners
The ADCB Universal Account charges just AED 2 a month with no minimum balance. It is built for residents earning AED 5,000 or less who do not already hold a UAE bank account.
Smart Digital Banking Features
ADCB’s app and internet banking support cardless ATM withdrawals, mobile cheque deposits, biometric login, instant transfers, and self-service banking through uBank centers.
Cons of Banking with ADCB
Relationship-Based Fees Can Be Confusing
ADCB’s Aspire account has three pricing tiers based on balance and salary transfer, from free up to AED 100 a month. Customers need to check which tier they fall into before assuming their account is free.
Higher Thresholds for Privilege Banking
Privilege customers pay AED 150 a month unless they keep a relationship balance of AED 200,000 or more, transfer a salary of AED 20,000 or more, or hold a mortgage of AED 1 million or more.
Cashback Card Has a Monthly Spend Requirement
The 365 Cashback card only pays cashback in a month where you spend AED 5,000 or more. Below that, no cashback is earned that month.
Branch Visit Required for Some Services
Certain requests, including account closure and some document-heavy services, still need a branch visit rather than being available fully in the app.
Foreign Transaction Charges
Customers using ADCB cards overseas should expect foreign currency conversion charges, which apply at most UAE banks. Check the current schedule of fees before you travel.
ADCB Account Tiers and Minimum Balance Rules

ADCB prices its personal current accounts by relationship tier rather than a single flat rule. The table below shows what ADCB’s own published notice says about each tier as of this month.
| Tier | Fee-free if you maintain | Monthly fee if not met |
| Aspire (base account) | Relationship balance of AED 20,000+, OR salary transfer of AED 15,000+, OR salary transfer of AED 5,000-14,999 with a credit card, overdraft or loan | AED 25 (partial match) or AED 100 (no match) |
| Privilege | Relationship balance of AED 200,000+, OR salary transfer of AED 20,000+, OR a mortgage of AED 1,000,000+ | AED 150 |
| Excellency | Wealth-management tier for high relationship balances; ADCB does not publish one fixed figure online | Ask your relationship manager or check the current schedule of fees |
| Universal Account | No minimum balance; for residents earning AED 5,000 or less with no other UAE bank account | AED 2 flat (including VAT) |
Source: ADCB’s relationship-based pricing notice and its Universal Account page. Fees and thresholds can change, so confirm on ADCB’s site before you open an account.
Before you open an account: ask ADCB which pricing tier your expected balance or salary transfer falls into, and get the exact monthly fee in writing if you might not meet the threshold every month.
ADCB Universal Account: A Low-Cost Option
The Universal Account is ADCB’s entry-level account for residents who do not already bank in the UAE. It charges a flat AED 2 a month, including VAT, with no minimum balance.
To qualify, you must be a UAE resident aged 18 or over with a valid Emirates ID, earn AED 5,000 a month or less, have no existing current or savings account with any UAE bank, and receive your salary through the Wages Protection System (WPS).
- AED current account with an IBAN and a debit card for UAE domestic transactions.
- Up to 4 free deposits and 4 free withdrawals a month at ADCB ATMs.
- Monthly deposit limit of AED 5,000 and monthly transfer-out limit of AED 5,000.
- No cheque book, no foreign currency transfers in, and no mobile banking app support.
- Maximum of 2 registered beneficiaries for transfers.
This account works well as a first UAE bank account, but its transfer limits mean it is not designed for customers who move large sums each month.
ADCB Business Banking for Small Businesses
ADCB also serves small business owners and freelancers, including a dedicated e-Business Account for Emiratis and GCC nationals with a valid e-Trader license.
- AED 0 minimum balance requirement to open the e-Business Account.
- AED 1,800 yearly fee, collected upfront, for eligible e-Trader license holders.
- Free e-statements, one free cheque book a year, and unlimited free domestic remittances and teller transactions.
- Available in AED only, for companies with turnover under AED 5 million.
Larger businesses and companies without an e-Trader license should ask ADCB about its standard business current account, since eligibility and pricing differ from the e-Business Account.
ADCB Banking Products and Services
ADCB Current and Salary Account
The ADCB current account is built for salaried residents earning at least AED 5,000 a month. It comes with a debit card, e-statements, mobile and internet banking, and access to loans, cards and investment products.
Whether a monthly fee applies depends on your relationship tier, shown in the table above. Customers with a strong salary transfer or relationship balance can bank fee-free.
ADCB 365 Cashback Credit Card
The 365 Cashback card has no annual fee in the first year, then AED 383.25 including VAT from the second year onward. Cashback is only earned in months with AED 5,000 or more in card spend.
| Spend category | Cashback rate |
| Dining (including online orders) | 6% |
| Fuel and Salik | 5% |
| Home digital entertainment subscriptions | 5% |
| AI-powered subscriptions | 5% |
| Groceries and supermarkets | 3% |
| Other retail spend | 1% |
The card also pays an AED 365 welcome bonus after AED 5,000 in spend within 45 days of approval, and caps total monthly cashback at AED 1,000.
Why Choose ADCB Over Other UAE Banks?
ADCB stands out for combining a large branch and ATM network with a genuinely rewarding cashback card and a dedicated low-cost account for lower earners. Few UAE banks offer all three together.
Its government backing and investment-grade ratings from S&P and Fitch add reassurance for customers who value institutional stability over the smallest possible fee.
How to Open an ADCB Account
Opening an ADCB account takes a few steps, whether you apply through the app or at a branch.
- Choose your account: Aspire, Privilege, Excellency, or the Universal Account if you have no existing UAE bank account.
- Gather your documents: Emirates ID, passport, UAE residence visa, and a salary certificate or employer letter where required.
- Apply through the ADCB Mobile Banking App or visit a branch or uBank center.
- Confirm which pricing tier applies to you and the exact monthly fee if you do not meet it.
- Activate your debit card and mobile banking once the account is approved.
ADCB Branches and ATMs Across the UAE

ADCB runs 47 branches across the UAE, including 8 uBank self-service centers and 2 Excellency Majlis centers for wealth clients. It also operates more than 560 ATMs, of which over 300 are cash and cheque deposit machines.
uBank centers let customers print debit cards, issue cheque books, and open accounts without waiting for a teller. Some mall-based uBank locations keep longer hours than standard branches.
Use ADCB’s own branch and ATM locator to check opening hours and the nearest location, since individual branch hours vary.
ADCB Customer Service and Support

- 24/7 customer care phone line
- WhatsApp banking
- In-app chat and mobile banking support
- Internet banking
- Islamic banking helpline
- Dedicated relationship managers for Privilege and Excellency customers
Customers can instantly block a lost or stolen card through the mobile app or by calling customer support.

- Bill payments
- Debit and credit card management, including instant card block

Where to Take a Complaint ADCB Does Not Fix
Complain to ADCB first and keep the date they received it. Give the bank its own internal process before escalating.
If 30 calendar days pass without a resolution, take it to Sanadak, the independent ombudsman unit created under the Central Bank of the UAE. Sanadak is on 800 726 2325 and sits in the Emirates Institute of Finance building in Abu Dhabi.
Its hours are 8:30am to 3:30pm Monday to Thursday and 8:30am to 11:30am on Friday. Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank is licensed by the Central Bank of the UAE, so it falls inside that remit.
