This policy explains what personal data Klip.ae collects, why, and what you can do about it. Klip.ae is an independent publication about banking in the United Arab Emirates. We are not a bank and we never ask for your banking credentials.

Who we are
This website is klip.ae, operated by the Klip Editorial Team. For any privacy question or request, email contact@klip.ae.
What we never collect
We do not collect, and will never ask you for, bank account numbers, card numbers, PINs, passwords, OTP codes, Emirates ID numbers or passport details. Please do not send these to us. If a message contains them, we delete it.
What we do collect
When you contact us
If you use our contact form or email us, we receive your name, your email address, anything you write in your message, and the IP address the form was submitted from. We use this only to read and answer your message. We keep correspondence for as long as needed to deal with the matter and any follow-up, then delete it.
When you leave a comment
If you comment on an article, we collect what you enter in the comment form, plus your IP address and browser user agent string, which help with spam detection. Approved comments and the name you submit with them are visible to the public. An anonymized string created from your email address may be sent to the Gravatar service to check whether you use it; the Gravatar privacy policy is at automattic.com/privacy.
When you simply read the site
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the site is used: which pages are read, roughly where visitors are located, which device and browser they use, and how they arrived. This is set up through the Site Kit plugin and uses cookies. Google processes this data on our behalf and may use it in line with its own policies. See Google’s privacy policy and how Google uses data from sites that use its services.
We also use Google Search Console, which reports aggregated, non-identifying data about how the site appears in Google search results.
We do not sell your data, and we do not use it to build advertising profiles.
Server logs
Like most websites, our hosting provider keeps standard access logs, which include IP addresses, requested pages and timestamps. These are used for security and to diagnose faults.
Cookies
Cookies used on this site fall into 3 groups:
- Analytics cookies set by Google Analytics, which measure site usage.
- Comment cookies. If you leave a comment you may opt in to saving your name, email and website so you do not have to retype them. These last 1 year.
- Technical cookies used by WordPress when someone logs in to administer the site. These do not apply to ordinary readers.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking analytics cookies does not affect your ability to read the site.
Embedded content from other sites
Articles may include embedded content such as videos or images from other websites. Embedded content behaves exactly as if you had visited that other website, which may collect data about you, use cookies and track your interaction with it.
Who we share data with
We share personal data only with the service providers that run this site on our behalf: our hosting provider, our email provider and Google for analytics. We do not sell personal data or pass it to banks or any other third party for marketing.
Some of these providers operate outside the UAE, so data may be processed abroad.
How long we keep it
- Contact messages: kept while we deal with the matter, then deleted.
- Comments and their metadata: kept indefinitely so that follow-up comments can be recognized and approved automatically.
- Analytics data: retained according to the retention period set in Google Analytics.
Your rights
You can ask us to:
- Tell you what personal data we hold about you
- Send you a copy of it
- Correct anything that is wrong
- Delete it, including any comment you have left

Security
The site is served over HTTPS and we take reasonable measures to protect the limited data we hold. No website can promise perfect security, so please do not send us sensitive personal or financial information.
Children
This site is intended for adults and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle personal data, we will update this page and change the date at the top.
